Life happens

I haven't cammed in a while, and I have not posted in awhile either. Let's try to write an update. 

So as most of you know, I am a full-time nursing student and that tends to take up a lot of my time. Today was actually my last day of this semester- thank god! I have been studying and procrastinating, and that has taken a lot of my time. I also had an unfortunate event happen, I found out my dad was in the hospital about a week and a half ago. He went there due to the diagnosis of psychosis, he started out being on a ventilator and sedated. The reason why is because not only was he not in his right mind but he had pneumonia, and a staff infection in his lungs. He has been on and off the ventilator, and now is finally off again- hopefully for good. He is also back to the right state of mind, but the Drs still have not been able to figure out what caused the temporary psychosis. So, lets just say, I have been in the hospital a lot and not in the right mind to cam. I plan of returning to cam tonight.  

Something I really want to mention is, how difficult it is to make money during December- Wow! If you are a follower reading this, please pay attention. Every little bit of tips help during this month. I understand everyone is low on cash and has to buy presents for their loved ones, but so do cam models. We are people too. The thing is, during the holidays...cam models struggle to just pay bills let alone have gift money for their loved ones. Please understand the frustration that some models may have during this time. We appreciate everything, especially during this time. If you can spare a giftcard, a gift off of a wishlist or even $10 to buy 100 tokens..it all adds up and will make us very thankful in the end. I myself usually make on average $300-$400 per payout for about 24-30 hours for 2 weeks. Last payout I only made $150, and it killed me. I had to skip bills just to open a lay-away. Why am I telling you this? I am a real ass person, and I want you to know..cam models are people too. Although some people think we are just sex robots. Lol

I know I did a poll of which topic to do next, and it came out to be information on bots and apps, and I will get to it soon, I promise.

A lot of shit on my mind...

Okay, so this post deserves a special color. Purple it is. 

First thing first, I have been incredibly busy, and haven't been to get shit done unless I am paying $2000 for it per semester. xD Or..they are paying me that..haha. So let's try to do a bit of brief updating. 

I was recently on Chaturbate's Model Spotlight. That was exciting. I gained quite a bit more followers and met some awesome new people. The only thing that would have made it better, is if I didn't do the interview 3 months ago. o.o It made things a bit outdated, and as most know, things are constantly changing in the cam world. 

Serenity's Spotlight

Next, Holy fucking Holidays. We have Halloween, Thankgiving, Christmas, Kwanzaa, Hanukkah, and whatever else people celebrate, and it's stresses me out. It is like a week before Halloween and I don't even have a costume yet! -.- Final exams come in December, and my Cam-versary is at the end of December. Holy shit balls. My birthday is also 4 months away..so I have to plan something uber exciting for that..still no clue. Anyways..that is the gist of that situation. 

I am considering doing a raffle within the next month or so, any suggestions? Please send me an email and let me know. 

Also if any website designers decide to read my blog, let me know if this next topic interests you. I have been looking everywhere for a model to cam with me but I am not having much luck in my state. I was thinking we could make a website where each model could be verified via camsite and let's say twitter? Then we could have the ability to find people in our area that are looking for cam partners. Maybe the models can make their profiles specific to a certain gender, age range, and distance willing to travel..things like that..if you could make it work, I would love to join in and help. :) 

Things a webcam model should have

After several votes I decided this would be my next topic. As someone looking to get into webcam modeling you might think there are so many specific things you need to have to get started, when in reality, not many things are needed to start.

Things recommended to have when starting webcam modeling:

• A webcam (720P or 1080P is the quality i recommend) and a microphone

You are able to use a webcam that is a lesser quality or even your webcam that is attached to your computer, but after you first pay, make it a priority to get a decent webcam, it will help you make a lot more in the long run. Along with that I would recommend you get a tripod, because it is easier to move the cam around that way. Like I mentioned in a previous post, the more you move around, and angles you show, the better your performance will be. A laptop microphone is just fine, but if you feel like shopping, go ahead and purchase a better one (never a headset). Here is a cheap one from Amazon.com for just $17.00.

• 1 or 2 adult toys

Toy of course are a good thing to have going into the industry. As you work more and more, you can add toys to your Amazon wishlist, and customers will be more than willing to purchase them, especially if you hint to them how much you really want it. No toys? No worries. In the beginning you can get away with just using your hands to play. On Chaturbate they have rules that you can not use anything for masturbation purposes unless it is meant for that purpose. Keep that in mind when you decide to play.

• Panties, Socks, Bras

You should already own those right? Always try to show some skin, but don't be afraid to make it minimal. Models wear all different types of things on cam, not just lingerie! Some models wear just a bra and panties, some wear costumes or things to make them look like a schoolgirl and such, and some girls just wear a camisole and panties. In my case men tend to see me in a cami and panties, or just a bra and panties, but my thing is.. I always wear socks! Especially Knee Highs, those are my fave! Some men even have a sock fetish, but I know more men have a foot fetish. I have an album listed on Chaturbate with pictures of my feet. • A clean area to work

Whether it be a bed or the floor, make sure you always have a clean area to work. If the area behind you or next to you is cluttered or not appealing, the focus wont be on you, but instead your environment. Eventually they wont be interested and will leave.

• Social Media

Every webcam model should create a model email, and a social media account. I would recommend Twitter or Tumblr. The more you get yourself out there, the more followers you will have, and the more money comes in. Honestly I can't think of much more that you "need", but as you get used to it your personal shows will differ from everyone else's shows. I don't think I have seen a webcam model that is exactly the same as another.

Time limited

I planned on writing in this blog frequently but I just haven't had the time to lately. I figured I would get on here really quick and type a few sentences to let you all know what is going on. I just started a new semester in school about 2 weeks ago, and it is a demanding one. My daughter also starts school Monday, and I have been trying to get that figured out as well. I lost internet about 2-3 weeks ago, and I am hoping to have it back on by next week. *Crosses fingers* I truly do miss being on cam, sometimes I felt like it was just my time to relax, my chance for "release" in more than one way ;). I will try to write a more cam-educational posts as soon as I have enough time, currently I am just procrastinating studying, so I honestly have to make things short and sweet for now. How to make the most money on cam Pt. 1

.

Making a bio

• Many people will make a bio for you on Chaturbate, but a lot of times it will cost you. There are free options even if you know a little something about HTML. What I did myself was open up Power Point, and make a few slides. A slide for events that are going on, a description of who I am (my personality description and my physical description), a slide for the rules and things that will get you silenced, and a tip menu. Once all of the slide were made I would just view them in full screen, take screen shots, paste them into Microsoft word, save them to my computer, do a little cropping, and then upload them to tinypic.com and add the codes to my bio! Pretty simple. My bio isn't top grade but for now, and for free- I am satisfied. Here are some screenshots of my current bio below.

UPDATE 8/17/14: I created a new bio. It wasn't too hard, but did a lot with a photo editor and a background eraser. Here are the screenshots. 

Creating social media

• As I am sure that most of you know, social media is huge! The more you are able to talk to your followers and let them know what is going on is the more they are going to want to visit you. I myself have made a Twitter (which Chaturbate will let you put on your bio), and a Facebook (cb will not allow this). This gives you a chance to keep your followers updated with the sexy things in life, events you are holding (such as raffles or contests) or even what time you will be on next! I love that I can talk to my regulars but you have to be careful because people will try to take advantage of you, they will annoy you, or even try to get your personal contact information. 
• I would also recommend that you avoid doing Skype shows. Not only does Chaturbate not allow you to advertise them, but many many people will try to scam you. Many people will promise you things (never trust anyone! even a regular) and they will "buy" things off of your wishlists, but if it is not an Amazon E-gift card then do not follow through on it. Many people will "buy" something off of your wishlist and will cancel it or put it on a prepaid card and you will never get it. Also if you try to go the paypal route, I have heard bad things as well.  If you are not aware, Paypal does not allow adult transactions and will eventually end up cancelling your account. I have heard that Giftrocket.com is a great alternate source but I heard that people have been scammed just as easily as they have been with Amazon wishlists. So beware, and try to stick to E-gift cards and tokens. 

Make a regular schedule

• Many times your customers will have the same time availability as you do. I would recommend that you set a specific schedule and let your followers/customers know exactly when it is, even post it on your Chaturbate bio, and Twitter! I have people/regulars ask me frequently- "Are you going to be on Friday? I am getting a big pay check and I want to spoil you." If they already know, then BAM! Time to get spoiled. 

Stay optimistic and Be nice! 

• I know it can be hard especially on bad days, but you should always try to be optimistic and be nice to everyone even the grays! You don't have to tolerate the rude assholes, but I do recommend that you silence or ban them and move on. Sometimes I joke about them, and try to brush it off, because the reality is, sometimes some of those rude assholes can really have hurtful remarks, and I have to do what I can to bring myself back to positivity. Also no one likes complaining..Do not bring real life problems on cam, most men are there to get off, they most likely don't want to hear about how much you hate certain things in your life. Also that doesn't mean that they shouldn't know a bit..I tend to tell life stories all the time but usually using fake names or no names at all, it makes people feel like they are getting to know you, and from what I have experienced they want to hear funny things that happen in life, and a lot of times they want to share their experiences with you as well. Listen! Not only to those who have tokens but to everyone. I can not tell you how many "grays" have come back to me with tokens because they said I was super nice, and I didn't just avoid them because they didn't have tokens. So pretty much- Don't act like a gold digger. It turns off a lot of people. Although most are there to beat their meat, some are just lonely and enjoy some decent conversation.
